Common reasons photos are rejected
- The file is smaller than 10 KB or larger than 200 KB.
- The photo is not in colour.

What is the JEE Main photo size in KB?
Between 10 KB and 200 KB, JPG/JPEG, in colour with a white background, according to the NTA Information Bulletin for JEE (Main) 2026.
Is a live photo also needed?
Yes. The bulletin says candidates also upload a live photograph while filling in the form. Maru can only help with the scanned photo file.
Is the JEE Main photo rule the same as NEET?
Very close, with one difference: JEE (Main) asks for a colour photo, while NEET (UG) allows black and white too.
What background does JEE Main need?
A white background, with your face filling about 80% of the image and your ears visible, according to the JEE (Main) 2026 bulletin.
