Canada Passport Photo Size Online

A Canadian passport photo for online renewal must be a JPG/JPEG file, 1,200–3,000 pixels wide and 1,800–4,500 pixels tall, between 200 KB and 5 MB and with the head filling 45–50% of the photo's height. Common reasons photos are rejected

  • The image is smaller than 1,200 pixels wide by 1,800 pixels high, or larger than 3,000 by 4,500.

  • The file is not a .jpeg or .jpg.

What size is a Canadian passport photo for online renewal?

At least 1,200 pixels wide by 1,800 pixels high and no larger than 3,000 by 4,500, between 200 KB and 5 MB, in .jpeg or .jpg format, according to canada.ca.

How big should my head be?

Chin to crown must be between 45% and 50% of the photo's height. Maru's crop guide marks that band.

Can I use my printed photo size online?

No. Printed photos are 50 mm by 70 mm; online renewal uses pixel rules. Use the printed-photo page for prints.

Why is my file too small?

Online renewal needs at least 200 KB. Maru raises the quality to reach it.

Does Maru upload my photo?
